What Nexo is

Nexo is a Discord Activity — a game that runs in a window inside Discord, launched from a voice channel. There is nothing to install and no separate account: you play as yourself, with the friends who are already there.

The game is about guessing words in Brazilian Portuguese. You type a word, and the game tells you which letters are in the right place, which are in the word but somewhere else, and which are not there at all. You have a limited number of tries.

The answer never leaves the server. Your guess is sent to us and we send back only the pattern of hits and misses. The word of the day is not in the page, not in a cookie, and not in the code your browser downloads — so it cannot be read ahead of time.

Ways to play

Solo, Duet and Quartet — one, two or four words at the same time, once a day.
Weekly — a harder word that lasts the whole week.
Infinite — practice rounds that do not touch your daily streak.
Duel — a room in your voice channel where everyone races on the same word, with a live scoreboard.

Rankings, achievements and frames

Every server gets its own ranking, and there is a global one as well. Playing earns experience and nexos, the in-game currency, which buy decorative frames for the ring around your Discord profile picture.

Frames are purely cosmetic. There is no frame, no purchase and no supporter perk that gives an extra try, a hint, or a better score. That is a design rule, not a promise: the ranking is the product, and anything that could be bought to climb it would make the ranking worthless.

Nexo is not a bot

Nexo does not read your messages, does not join your voice call, and does not need a bot user in your server. It is a web page that Discord opens in a frame, and the only thing it ever asks for is the identify permission — your user ID, display name and avatar, which is what puts your face on the scoreboard.
